How many days do I need in Zhangjiajie?

We recommend at least 3 to 4 days. This allows you to see the main National Forest Park (Avatar Mountains) over two days, and spend another day visiting Tianmen Mountain and the Glass Bridge.

Is Zhangjiajie National Forest Park the same as Tianmen Mountain?

No, they are two separate attractions. The National Forest Park (Avatar Mountains) is in Wulingyuan, about 45 minutes from the city. Tianmen Mountain is located right next to Zhangjiajie City center.

Do I need to be very fit to visit Zhangjiajie?

Not necessarily. While there is a lot of walking, the park has an extensive network of cable cars, elevators, and shuttle buses. A private guide can tailor the route to minimize stair climbing.
